It can take 50–70 years for a saguaro cactus to grow its first arms, though it can take up to 100 years in areas with less precipitation. Saguaros grow slowly, adding only about an inch per year for the first eight years of their lives. They usually reach 6.5 ft tall and begin flowering at around 70 years, and can grow up to 15–16 ft tall by 95–100 years.
